The Budget

Here’s where this campaign is Grassroots in the trues sense of the word. I established a self prescribed budget of $500 to launch this campaign with. While I’m not limited to this budget, it’s a nice roof to put on this project.
Here’s a breakdown of expenses as of 3-10-09
- Domain registration and web hosting= $99.70
- Event Signage = $76.79
Update as of 3-12-09
- T-Shirt priniting= $415.03
- Total= $591.52
Meeting with First Selectman
I met with Denise Menard on February 6th to discuss my project in further detail. This was a great boost in the projects progress. Denise has put me in contact with several leaders in the community. I have begun a dialog with many of them
Starting a worthy cause (on $500 or less)

The original idea for this project was to simply address the litter issue in town. I noticed trash being thrown from cars was accumulating along the forested areas along the roads. I originally noticed this problem over two years ago and when I was charged with developing a senior project for school, I thought this was the opportunity I was waiting for.
The main concept behind the Keep it Green campaign is to be a hassle free way to get involved with your community. But where to start? how do you start a project like this?
I began with a proposal to the town where I was introduced to First Selectman Denise Menard. Denise and I kept correspondence over a year as I worked on my research on why this is project should exist. In the Fall of 2008 I wrote the research paper that is providing the framework of this project.
One major driving factor behind this project is it’s simplicity, I would love to see this project grow into a organization that can very easily rally citizens to keep their community clean while sending a clear message to people who litter, “We care about our town!”
